About
About this book
At the Edge of Becoming is a four-book collection about the human being as something still happening.
It begins with the identities we are given—the names, roles, expectations, histories, and descriptions that help us navigate life but can slowly become mistaken for the boundaries of who we are. From there, the work moves toward awareness: the small interior distance that allows a thought to become something noticed rather than obeyed, an emotion to become something felt without becoming an identity, and an old reaction to become merely probable instead of inevitable.
The book is interested in possibility, but refuses to turn possibility into prophecy. It makes room for intuition, but not unquestionable intuition. Reason becomes a lamp; intuition a compass; neither is sufficient alone. Borrowed maps are honored without requiring the river to remain where an old map says it belongs. Inner authority is not presented as knowing everything for yourself, but as accepting that eventually your own life must carry the consequences of what you choose.
Across lyrical reflections, brief stories, ordinary images, and language touched by poetry, the collection keeps returning to a simple tension:
We need names, beliefs, maps, relationships, expertise, memory, and certainty enough to live.
But none of them should be allowed to finish us too soon.
This is not a book about escaping the human condition.
It is about becoming more awake inside it.
